Newton Montessori School has a superior program with Montessori-certified teachers for children starting at 15 months in their beginners classrooms all the way up through the 3-6 years primary cycle and well into the elementary program. The communication within the larger community and administration is well-organized, clear, consistent, safe and reliable. We have been at the school for almost 5 years now, with both our children having started at 15 months - an age that most other schools in the area weren't licensed to accommodate. Today our older child is finishing up his primary cycle (the kindergarten year), while our younger child just started the first year of primary. Newton Montessori's core curriculum is well-balanced with focus shifting seamlessly from self-care, expression and independence during the toddler phase to greater awareness, active engagement, reading, writing, math and science in the primary classes. They are solidly committed to specials such as Spanish, library, music, art, drama, design lab and gym - all of which start early in the beginner classes and continue consistently through all subsequent years. And there is no comparison to the host of student enrichment options available right on the premises such as their teacher-led woodworking classes in the fully equipped design lab. NMS is surely a hidden gem in Newton and the surrounding areas.

My kids are in their 6th year at the school, and have had a fantastic experience. The faculty is top-notch, and thoroughly committed to providing an environment rooted in Montessori principles, but open to the best educational methods and curricula. The current administration has made huge strides in upgrading the school and its academic programs. The future is very bright for NMS.

My daughter started 1st grade at NMS this year. It has been such a positive change for her. She went from being a kid who really did not like anything &#34;school,&#34; to coming home at the end of the day on many occasions saying, &#34;I love Wellan.&#34; The Montessori approach, coupled with consistent yet attainable weekly homework assignments and a couple of larger projects during the year, seems to perfectly balance a flexible learning environment which sees and teaches to each individual child, with the right amount of academic rigor. I highly recommend this school.

Our kids have been attending NMS for 3 years. The Montessori method is amazing and produces amazing, respectful young kids. The teachers and staff are great and I would highly recommend you check it out. The community is great too.
