Guidepost Montessori at Schaumburg

I am a curriculum specialist and have worked in public schools for 12 years. I’ve been directly mentored by MAJOR education gurus, such as one of John Hattie’s co-authors and other amazing researchers out of UVA (where we used to live) and California.

With my background and high expectations, I didn’t think I’d find any school I deemed “good enough” for my daughter (now 3). My daughter tried a different daycare in the fall. I toured upwards of 20 schools in the area. We were on the waitlist for quite a while, I admit that stunk. But from our first walk through to the end of my daughters first month in school here, I am astounded and so appreciative of the care she’s receiving. I 100% believe in the Montessori method, and the exposure to learning my daughter is having. She went to other programs while we were on the waitlist and I had pulled her because of the major safety concerns elsewhere. Here, my daughter is safe, loved, cared for in a way I believe in, and taught… REALlY taught. Not the old school comply or be scared of timeout, but actual research based, get down to her level and speak to her like she is a human, taught. She rarely comes home in a disregulated state like she did daily from her other school.

Have we been sent home for Covid exposure? Yes. Of course. Until CDC guidelines update ALL schools are doing this, you should have seen what our public school went through this past year!

Are they understaffed (per other reviews)?? Not in any ways that I’ve experienced so far. I’d rather get a few pictures a week instead of 20 a day. Children should be learning interaction, which they ensure, rather than having cameras, iPads, devices stuck in their faces all day.

The bottom line is- I have 0 worries about my daughters safety, well-being and development while she’s in this school. It’s the best place for her, and I highly recommend it to parents who are committed to raising healthy children with a focus on learning and brain development. Also, Mrs Molly is AMAZING! Robin and Natalie too!! Always helpful, professional, caring and kind.

Do not send any children here. Closed 60% of the time, but you still pay. Development low, teacher and parent turnover rapid. Chaotic classrooms with no control. Administration could care less with any complaints.

Worst daycare I have ever experienced. From administration all the way down. School closes over 50% while you pay full price, plus deal with getting childcare. They say Covid for over 2 years now but on FACEBOOK I learned it is teacher shortage. Pictures of activity for your child hardly ever get posted, child progress posting was nothing for 6 months. Teachers and families leaving rapidly. The feedback I got on my child’s progress, ended up being the wrong kid. Don’t waste your time or money.

I don't have anthing but GREAT things to say about this school. Everyone from guides to principal are amazing. They are very professional and absolutely so friendly. We have had very bad school experiences in the past but sending my son here was the BEST decision we have ever made!!! My son is very happy and we are never worried.

My oldest daughter has been with Guidepost since they opened, and my youngest since she was 10 weeks old. To say I&#39;ve been happy there is an understatement. My girls are so happy to go everyday, the teachers are passionate and caring as well as experienced. I have vast experience in early childhood education as both a parent and a teacher and I would choose Guidepost time and time again.

Absolutely horrible. Do not subject your kids to this place. Teachers leaving constantly, interaction with kids is minimal, shut down all the time stating Covid, however find out there is a teacher shortage. You pay full price each week they shut down. Parents very unhappy and leaving all the time. Pictures of daily activity were rare and when I went for conference, they were giving me information that was the wrong child. Chaos and administration could not care at all. They just say we will fill your spot with a new person.
