Redbud Montessori

A true Montessori preschool for 3, 4, and 5 year olds. The staff are very dedicated! It's a parent cooperative, so be prepared to volunteer your time. It is on UU church property, so turn in at their sign, park in the gravel lot, and follow the path from the gravel lot, over the bridge, and you're there!

Reasons we decided on Redbud at the beginning: 1) Atmosphere! Relaxed, friendly, focused kids when we visited 2) Teacher retention. The teachers are there for the long term, which told us they liked their jobs and felt supported at this school. 3) Montessori (actual). Everyone we knew who had worked in the early childhood space recommended this method and suggested verifying that core teachers/administrators have actual Montessori training, as there is no particular regulation on branding. They do. 4) Full day program. Reasons we&#39;re glad we chose Redbud as we move on to 1st grade: - Expert teachers. We had so few problems, but every one we had was solved by asking the teachers&#39; advice. The staff at Redbud really know kids. - Safe, welcoming, and caring community. Our child started out quiet and soon felt completely comfortable being himself in every way. This was particularly evident in the Kinder year, which made us especially glad we stayed for that burst of confidence and imagination. He also learned to be a good helper to others. - Seemingly limitless individualized learning. Our child was able to build on his skills and interests at his own pace throughout his time there. His teachers knew exactly where he was and what he was working on. No matter how far he went with something, they somehow found a way to support him when he wanted to go farther. - Beautiful natural setting. We loved the location but didn&#39;t figure this into our initial decision -- on reflection, it was such a joy to visit that spot twice a day, and watch the seasons, and have so many beautiful memories playing amongst the trees. We were SO lucky to have this school available to us for our child&#39;s early years! It is an absolute gem, and a testament to the hard work, love, and dedication of its amazing staff.

Redbud Montessori has been an incredible place for our son and our family for the past year. The physical property is amazing. The smells, the space, the wildlife, the ability for children to run and be free (while of course in a safely monitored environment) is unmatched in Davis. I can&#39;t say enough good things about all of the teachers and staff. They each take a keen interest in your child and provide so much individual attention - I don&#39;t know how they do it! My son&#39;s teachers routinely pull me aside to let me know what he&#39;s working on, enjoying, showing interest in, etc. He has made so much academic progress in just the past school year. He has been exposed to so much and his desire for learning has been ignited by the Redbud teachers and curriculum. The staff at Redbud communicate very well. If there is ever an incident with your child, you are informed right away, either by phone, email, or a slip in your folder, depending on the circumstance. Redbud delivers midyear reviews and assessments so you know how your child is performing in all key areas - academics, social, sensory, etc. I hardly needed the review though since communication was so good year round. The social and family involvement at Redbud is excellent as well. There are so many fun opportunities to meet your child&#39;s classmates and their families throughout the year from potlucks to picnics to fundraisers at local restaurants to field trips to whole-class and school birthday parties. I get sad when I think about my son moving on this coming year but am comforted by the fact that we will send our daughter to Redbud when she&#39;s old enough in 2 short years!
