Aventura Montessori School

As a journalist I take very seriously the education of my children. And when my first boy was 2 1/2 years old, I did an extensive research for a Montessori school in the Aventura area. I found a few options but then I decided for Aventura Montessori School. I had my mother come with me to visit the school and meet with Mrs. Ali. We both agreed that this was the place. Since then, our experience has been nothing but wonderful. I like that I am a one phone call away from Ms. Farah directly, who is always more than willing to accommodate our needs whether is late stay or early arrival or birthday celebrations, etc. All the teachers are loving and caring yet firm. The way Mrs. Ali (owner/founder) has used the Montessori method is admirable. Not for nothing this school has been active for years. My son did three years at AMS and so did my second boy who finishes this may. We will truly miss them, especially the personal experience they offer.

I have my 2 kids in this school. Ages 2 and 4  and they are so happy in here. They love the school and when I ask them about their day, I hear only positive things from them.
The school is very clean, and well organized. The materials the kids interact with are always clean and in good condition. The facilities are kid friendly, even the toilets, and the playground is big with lots of things to do and well maintained.
The school has a very good curricula with a nicely structured method which helps kids learn and be organized while having fun and feeling productive.
The teachers and staff are very nice and friendly, well prepared and are always willing to facilitate the learning experience for the kids and help them in any way.
I’ve seen such a positive impact in my kids since they started going to this school. They have become very independent and willing to do things by themselves. Progressed rapidly in their learning and the mastering of new skills, learned new vocabulary and the recognition of letters. My older daughter by the time she entered pk4 she was writing her name and reading some words on her own.  I feel she’s getting such a good head start for her future.

I’m a very picky person and when I started looking for schools for my daughter I toured almost every school around Hallandale. This school is a great place to send your kids to. It’s truly a hidden gem, by far the best school I’ve seen around the area.

I searched high and low for a great montessori school in the area and this was the one! The staff is so caring. Ms Farrah and Mrs Ali are very knowledgeable of how to properly implement the montessori system. My son learned independence and responsibility. I highly recommend AMS. My kid loves it!

This is an exceptional school that has allowed my son to progress at his learning pace without creating unnecessary pressure.
The environment is calm which is not something you usually see with young children. The school is very well run and the teachers are exceptional. I love that my son is able to learn "real life" lessons -- he has become so much more confident and independent since he started.
He loves going to school everyday and now has a love of learning. I can't say enough good things about this school! If I regret anything -- it would be that I didn't put him in earlier!

Very nurturing and loving environment! The school is also well organized and very clean. The teachers care and really pay attention to each child.  My kids got the academics as well as being able to play so they were well prepared for Kindergarten. All three of my children have attended the school with my youngest still there and my older two in Elementary school and I can say that they looked forward to and enjoyed going to the Aventura Montessori School. The camp they have in the summer is also one of the best in the area.

I have been struggling with the idea of writing this review but then I thought some parents could benefit from our experience so maybe this ordeal won&#39;t have been for nothing. We moved from our country in January 2018 as soon as we got to Aventura this school was the best option to us. We Know about the Montessori philosophy and we like it. On the day of the interview, we informed the principal of our situation, we just moved from another country, my son spoke no English and he had a 6 months old sibling. Our 5 years old son started on March because we believed he could benefit from being with other kids, learning how to share, practicing english and having a routine while we organized the family affairs. After 1 week, we got a call from the principal who let us know that they decided to reevaluate the admission because our son had a bad attitude. He didn&#39;t cooperate with activities or would not listen to the teacher (he didn&#39;t  speak English at the time) We asked her to be patient because of the circumstances and the principal gave us another chance, but it sounded like an ultimatum. The following month, April, we had to travel to our country. We where there for two weeks and when we came back he wasn&#39;t better. I think being exposed again to his old life, friends and the family wasn&#39;t easy. One morning the principal called me again, she was screaming. She  informed us that she put our son out of school! I was crying and felt really sad. My husband called to speak to her and tried to reason with her, this wasn&#39;t the ideal solution. She said that our son was not a good fit anymore and he was going to be given two weeks to adjust to the school or else he would be dismissed. Mind you this was also the end of the school year. My son was going through a lot, a new sister, a new country a new language. This school treated him as if he was a juvenile delinquent, as if his presence in the school was a problem. This principal prizes herself for having 23 years of experience in childhood education and that is the way she decided to handle a child who was going through a challenging time in his life? We were made feel as if there was something terribly wrong with him. My son was silly and exuberant experiencing an incredible amount of change all at once, that was his fault. Never did the teachers though help him navigate transitions (the most frequent times for behavioral outbursts), or never was he given time to familiarize himself with  the Montessori rules which they claimed he was not following. He was defiant but like a 5 year old can be, a 5 year old who is going through so much change in his life.  We were given an ultimatum in a very cold and unsympathetic way.  After that call, my husband and I decided to get him out of this horrible school right away. Never in my life have I experienced such lack of compassion and understanding in an early childhood education setting. My son wasn&#39;t violent or aggressive or dangerous he was anxious and rambunctious. There must have been other ways to deal with this, some basic childhood psychology and more  respectful interventions. You see I could have dealt with the idea that my son wasn&#39;t a good fit for this school if the principal had been communicating with us in a compassionate manner, but that never happened. Do yourself a favor, steer away from this place and their cold hearted management. These people should not be educating anyone since they lack basic human empathy. Now, a year later, we are so happy. He is in kindergarten, he is an excellent student, he loves his teacher and has made a lot of friends. He only needed TIME !!

The teachers are very nice, friendly and always willing to help the children improve. The owners are very friendly and very professional. They are the heart of the school, providing the best work so our children can get the best learning experience.
